FIARE (the Foundation for Investment and Responsible Saving) is the Spanish manifestation of FIARE BANCA ETICA, a European credit cooperative that carries out its financial activities in Spain and Italy. FIARE was created in 2003 in the Basque Country as a movement of citizens and social organizations aiming to promote socially responsible savings and investment among both private individuals and institutions. FIARE Its banking activity is inspired by the principles of Ethical Finance: transparency, participation, austerity, efficiency, and awareness of the non-economic consequences of economic actions. FIARE gathers more than 4.000 associates in Spain and, since 2013, the Spanish initiative merged into the Italian credit cooperative Banca Popolare Etica. Together constitute the first international ethical-based credit cooperative in Europe.
FIARE joined in 2005 the European network FEBEA (European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks), and currently is one of the members of FEBEAS´s Board of Directors. The European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks (FEBEA) is a non-profit international association formed by 29 European partners based across 17 European States.

Agreement with the Italian credit cooperative Banca Popolare Etica which permitted Fiare to start the subscription of deposits in the Spanish territory, becoming the financial agent of BpE in Spain.
Attempt to create a new European (ethical) credit cooperative and constitution of Fiare Banca Etica (2010-2013)
Celebration of the 2012 Fiare´s General Meeting, which endorsed the integration of Fiare into the Banca Popolare Etica cooperative.
Fiare obtains the inscription in the Spanish register of financial entities
Fiare opens its first banking office in Bilbao and starts to function as a Spanish-Italian ethical credit cooperative in Spain (October 2014).
Celebration of the Assembly of Members of Fiare Banca Etica, the first assembly after the integration of both entities.
