The MOI (Movement of Occupants and Tenants) is a social, territorial and political organization born in 1991 with the aim to promote the housing access and the right to the city. Its primary organizational tool is the self-managed cooperative.

One of the bases on which the MOI stands is in the right to the establishment and to a more democratic citizenship. In this sense, the organization carries out strategies of action based on the regularization of the domains and the The right to housing, elaborating a project of organization and management that involved multiple social and political actors (students and teachers of the Faculty of Architecture (University of Buenos Aires), Center for Habitat Studies, Housing and Community, the Self-managed Communities Liaison Secretariat, etc.).

    Economical and social crisis in 2002

    In the end of 2001, Argentina suffered a deep economical and social crisis. The movement grew and had to train more people in self-management issues to survive the crisis. The MOI created a new pedagogical system for that: "La Guardia".
