The Impact Hub Vienna community is made up of social businesses addressing challenges both locally and globally. The members are entrepreneurs, social investors, freelancers, or advocates, campaigners, artists, consultants, coaches and more. Impact HUB Vienna provides a global platform connecting its members to 11000+ like-minded entrepreneurs. They have access to training and support, work spaces, lectures, training workshops, community networking events and incubation programs. The global Impact HUB network facilitates a co-creative working environment for social entrepreneurs aiming for impact for a more social and sustainable society. Impact Hubs unite people from different profession, background and culture with imagination and drive to pursue enterprising ideas for the world.
The newly rented physical space was the launch of Impact HUB Vienna. It caused a step in growing and networking and the informal ‘glue’ of community. During the 5 months of renovation the HUB hosted already several events.
Impact HUB Vienna invited for their launching event on social business in May 2010 the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus. The large event with large event with local actors Erste Bank, Erste Stiftung, event was also kick off social business tour in Europe.
The HUB Vienna started with different programs to support individual social entrepreneurs. In 2013 a step of internal collaboration was made to unite the programs under the umbrella of the so called ‘Impact HUB Vienna incubation center’.
Impact HUB Vienna has changed the character of its start-up supporting programs from individually oriented to increasingly team & group focused.
A second merging of organisations around Impact HUB Vienna happened in 2013. Emersense was more strong than IH Vienna, but the IH was the hosting organisation. The solution was to merge both into one.
Starting with Central European countries over the years Impact HUB Vienna is steering more international programs today. The initiation point was the jump start award Impact HUB Vienna has received in 2015. Especially connections to Eastern European countries have intensified since then.
